God’s promise in the form of prophecy goes beyond the arrival of Jesus on earth.  God foretells the future we will experience as believers in a perfect world where the wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion will feed together and a little child will lead them.

How will we arrive at this place of perfection?  By receiving the “promised one,” Jesus Christ, and living a life represented by wisdom and knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

Imagine living at a time when the knowledge of God covers the earth as the waters cover the sea.  The reality of that knowledge, will cause men and women to desire to live righteous lives. Pleasing Christ in this perfect environment will be the desire of each of us.  Wisdom and knowledge will be prevalent, replacing the deceptive work of the enemy which causes fear, disobedience and sinful practices.  What joy when that day of perfection arrives.

This future reign of Jesus over all the world is called the Millennium which is Latin for one thousand years.  It is mentioned many places in the Old Testament and New Testament.  It will be peaceful in nature and the world will be blessed with righteousness and justice.

God made promises to His creation which He will fulfill during the Millennium.  God has promised to remove the curse which He placed upon the creation due to the sin of Man.  He has promised to deliver the Creation from its bondage to decay and to restore it to its original beauty, balance, and peace.

God has promised to give mankind and the earth rest from its wars.  But that peace will not come until the Prince of Peace returns.  Only then will the nations “hammer their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks.”  Isaiah 2:4. “Only then will we realize the dream of a world where “nation will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they learn war.” Isaiah 2:4
